Connecting Communities Through Heritage and Belonging

Heritage Journey UK supports newcomers and diverse communities—particularly Hongkongers, elderly individuals, and families at risk of isolation—through education, cultural exchange, wellbeing activities, and community integration.

Heritage Journey UK is a community-focused charity that supports the wellbeing, inclusion, and opportunities of people from migrant and diverse backgrounds. We create welcoming spaces where newcomers can learn, connect, and build a sense of belonging in the UK. Our work focuses particularly on supporting Hongkongers, older people, and families who may be at risk of social isolation, helping them access opportunities that strengthen their confidence, skills, and community connections.

Our Aims

Heritage Journey UK works for the public benefit by helping people from migrant and diverse backgrounds learn about British history, culture, language, and civic life, while promoting wellbeing and resilience through inclusive cultural and community activities. We also support individuals to access skills, resources, and employment opportunities that help them settle successfully and integrate into life in the UK.

Our Vision and Values

Our vision is to help build a welcoming and inclusive society where newcomers feel empowered, connected, and valued, guided by our core values of inclusivity, empowerment, cultural exchange, wellbeing and mindfulness, and community-led design, which ensure our work supports confidence, positive mental health, mutual understanding, and reflects the needs and voices of the communities we serve.

Background

Heritage Journey UK began as a grassroots volunteer initiative in the North West and East Midlands of England. The group originally formed while supporting community projects run by Migrant Support in Greater Manchester.

Through this experience, volunteers developed programmes that help people explore British history, culture, and community life through outdoor learning, community visits, creative activities, and wellbeing events. Today, Heritage Journey UK continues to work in partnership with local charities, community groups, and public services to deliver inclusive, community-led activities that support integration and wellbeing.
